Bali Visa on Arrival for selected Nationalities. All other travellers need Visa B211A
With news of the Bali Visa on Arrival finally being available again for some nationalities, exclusively entering Bali; many people are confused and wondering which visa is the correct option at this time.
In this post we break down the key differences between the 2 visas, so you can decide which one is the best one for your needs!
Visa on Arrival (VoA) and Visit Visa B211A FAQ
International travellers can visit Indonesia. You need to have a status of being “Fully Vaccinated”.Travellers from 23 nationalities can now obtain a VISA ON ARRIVAL (VoA) – ONLY if they arrive directly in Bali.

Must know about the Visa on Arrival:
- You will have to purchase a visa sticker in the arrival hall at the airport in DPS before you queue at the immigration counter
- valid for 30 days, and can be extended ONCE for 30 days, after that you will have to leave the country. You can not apply for a B211A afterwards.
- Will only be issued in Bali, no other airports
- Costs: IDR 500,000 (ca USD 35) (USD, EUR, AUD cash or Visa, Mastercard)
- Only for Tourism Purpose
- Return ticket needed
- Make sure passport is still valid at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Indonesia
When do I need to apply for the B211A e-Visa and who can apply?
You still need the B211A Visa if,
- entering Indonesia NOT via Bali, Denpasar
- you wish to stay longer than 60 days
- travel with a business purpose (meetings, sourcing, etc)
- If your nationality is not listed in the list of eligible nationalities

Who can apply for a Visa B211A? Travellers from almost all countries can apply for a visit e-visa.
But, due to pre-existing travel restrictions nationals from following countries CAN NOT apply for visit e-visas for Indonesia, but have to contact directly their embassy,
- Afghanistan
- Guinea
- Israel
- Kamerun
- Liberia
- Nigeria
- North Korea
- Somalia
Some travellers from Iraq and Iran also have difficulties to get the visa approved.
What is an B211A Offshore and Onshore Visa?
Offshore means, you are applying for a visa while you are still OUTSIDE of Indonesia. Online Application
Onshore means, you are applying for a Visa while you are already INSIDE of Indonesia. Online Application
How can I apply for the B211A Visit Visa
The Process is straightforward. Please select the most suitable e-visa option for you (Standard or Express Service, and Single or Package with all Extensions),
- Send us a message via Whatsapp or email to begin your visa consultation
- We will verify the data and your documents first, to make sure, all is according to the regulations. We will give you a feedback, if anything is missing or needs to be clarified.
- Once all is good to go, we will send you a bill.
- After we have received the payment we will proceed the application process. From that moment on, the Standard Service takes 7 working days, and Express Service 3 working days, and the visa application cannot be stopped anymore, and no refund can be granted.
- You will then receive the e-Visa per email from us, you have then 90 days to arrive to Indonesia.
What is the B211A Tourism or Business purpose and what am I allowed to do with it?
You are applying by default for a Single Entry VISA B211A “TOURISM PURPOSE”.
There are two TYPES of B211A Visit Visas. BUSINESS & TOURISM.
We can also facilitate for you the Business Type Visa if you need it. There is no difference for in the application process or the costs. The technical difference is that to facilitate the visa we will use a business company as a sponsor.
The Business Type Visa is for the purpose of
- Visit
- Emergency and urgent work
- Business meeting, sourcing, business research, attending trainings, seminars, workshops, exhibitions
- Purchasing goods
- Film production
- Voluntary, medical, and sustenance work (humanitarian activities)
- Government duty
- Accompanying transport tool in the region of Indonesia
- Development of marine industry (yachters)
- Government duty in accordance with Indonesian Presidential related meetings in G20 or International Assembly of 144th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)
Even though the visa is technically called a business visa, it’s NOT A WORK PERMIT and does not entitle you to take or have a job in Indonesia, that pays you a salary or provides any income.
You can however have business meetings, do networking, explore investment opportunities, sourcing products…and of course, chill at the pool or beach.
How long is the B211A Visa valid and can it be extended?
- The B211A offshore Visa is valid for 60 days (offshore) and can be extended 4 times, each extension gives you another 30 days, so in total you could stay 180 days.
- The onshore B211A is valid for 30 days and can also be extended 4 times, each extension gives you another 30 days, so in total you could stay 150 days.
- It’s an electronic visa (e-visa) which you will receive per email.
- Single entry e-VISA.
(count the days including your day of arrival and day of departure).
EXTENSIONS:
This B211A Visit Visa can be extended four times for 30 days each. For the extension you have to be in Bali and need to hand in the passport 1 weeks before the current visa expires. Only if you got the visa through us, you can also book the extensions with us.
For the first extension you have to show up personally at the immigration office in Denpasar or Jimbaran to get a photo and fingerprints taken.
IMPORTANT: How long does it take to get the visa?
The visa application is submitted to the immigration office after we have validated your documents and data, and after we have received the payment.
You can choose between 2 services:
- STANDARD – 7 working days to process
- EXPRESS – 3 working days to process
Working days (business days MO-FR) are excluding weekends and public holidays. Applications can only be submitted by us from MO-FR
What happens if I want to stay longer after using all extensions?
For now, and as long as Indonesia does not change the regulations meanwhile, you can apply for an ONSHORE VISIT VISA without having to leave the country. Same process, but remember the initial onshore visa is valid 30 days, and not 60.
Also this onshore visa can be extended 4 x 30 days, so you get another 150days in total.
What documents do I need to apply for the visa?
- SCAN OF PASSPORT – Scan of passport details page & passport cover, Passport with a minimum 7 months validity from date of entry

- VACCINATION CERTIFICATE – A vaccination certificate that demonstrates that you have completed your vaccination process.

FORMAL PHOTO – A formal passport-style photo.
- HEALTH INSURANCE OR TRAVEL INSURANCE – You will need to get appropriate health or travel insurance to cover your stay in Bali and ensure the policies cover COVID and at least USD 25,000 medical expenses. For the visa application process, we will need to know the name of your insurance provider and your policy number.
- RETURN FLIGHT TICKET – A flight ticket showing you will be leaving Indonesia before the visa expires (only if available)

Why does Bali Visa Agency ask for so many requirements whilst some agencies only ask for a copy of the passport?
The simple answer is that the requirements we ask for, are the legal requirements to submit your visa. If your agent is not asking for copies of your documents, it means they are fraudulently editing documents. This puts you the customer at risk when you arrive in Indonesia if Immigration authorities request to see your documentation.
Penalties for fraudulent documentation include: refusal of entry to Indonesia, deportation, substantial fines and black listing.
What happens if my Visa B211A is granted or in process, but suddenly I don’t need it anymore, because of changed regulations
Your B211A will be valid and you can still use it to enter Indonesia and stay 60 days without extension. Even if you are one of the 23 nationalities and technically you might not need the Visa anymore, it cannot be cancelled or refunded.
Once Bali Visa Agency have started the process with the immigration, it cannot be cancelled and no refund can be granted. If you have applied and we have not yet submitted the application to the immigration office, you can ask for a refund and we will not charge you any fees or any of our services we have delivered so far.
The B211A is a different Visa than the Visa on Arrival (VoA). The VoA is only valid for 30 days and can only be extended once. The cost for the VoA is IDR 500,000 (ca. USD35).
What do I pay for, why is it more expensive than the basic visa fee?

Do I need your service? Technically, any traveler can try to apply for a visa on the website of the immigration department, if they can provide a sponsor letter from a Travel Agency in Indonesia or a local company. The government published this link https://visa-online.imigrasi.go.id/. You would need to upload the proper and complete documentations without any errors. The total costs for doing it yourself will be 50USD + IDR 200,000 + banking fees depending on the payment method. We don’t know of a single person who managed to get the visa directly online during the pandemic; does not mean it’s not possible, but it’s not as easy at it seems.
